Homeless Wendy is driving with her dog Lucy to Alaska, in hopes of a summer job in a cannery. When her car breaks down en route, the thin fabric of their situation comes apart, and Wendy is faced with a series of increasingly dire challenges.

Reichardt’s understated approach and Michelle Williams stunning, heartbreaking performance paints a vivid portrait of a young womans struggle to survive in a world indifferent to her plight. Simple and direct, Wendy and Lucy is a moving meditation on resilience and the often-overlooked plight of those on the fringes of society.
