Our Eva

Eva Kershaw is happy living with her dear friend Alice, who has been like a mother to her. Their house in a quiet Lancashire village in the foothills of the Pennines has been an oasis of peace. But three years after the end of the Great War, change is in the air. Alice is dying and Eva is further upset by the unexpected arrival of Gus Blake, Alice’s nephew.

Eva does not want to share her beloved friend’s last days with anyone, but at Alice’s request, Gus stays on. Alice’s greatest regret is that she never had children and she’s determined Eva shall not make the same mistake. She sees in Gus – young, handsome and confident – the answer to her prayers.

As Alice grows weaker, Eva is torn between her desire to make her friend happy and her instinctive mistrust of Gus Blake. Then Alice’s Will presents Eva with a difficult – and dangerous – decision about her future . . .
