War veteran and accountant Barry Amsterdam (OKeefe) is charged with investigating Arnie Valent (Stewart), a gang boss suspected of murdering a man who tried to expose him. Ansterdam soon becomes involved in a dangerous love triangle involving both Valents glamorous girlfriend (Lane), and the mysterious, vengeful Joyce (Hayes).
