Building a Masterpiece: Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum is a spectacular structure of wings and cables that looks as though it is about to take off from the shores of Lake Michigan. Its construction is described in this text, which also provides a history of this major mid-western museum that dates back more than a century. Most of the book is devoted to colour plates with essays on the museum’s collection, together with outstanding decorative arts as well as folk and Haitian art.
