This study of the Barossas heritage, funded by the Government of South Australia, and carried out by Lester, Firth and Murton Pty. Ltd. Under the direction of the Steering Committee is one of the first, if not the first, major heritage study in Australia covering a whole region as distinct from the many studies already carried out on individual towns.This report presents an important opportunity to protect and reinforce the rich heritage and character of the Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley is recognised throughout Australia as a vital part of the nations heritage and is an important tourist attraction. Analysis of the regional landscapes and townscapes has identified the important heritage elements and features which should be consciously retained.
