The novel is set in an unnamed African country after its independence from a European colonial power. The novel follows the life and experiences of Salim, an Indian merchant who moves to a town on a bend in the river, where he witnesses the social and political changes and conflicts that affect the country and its people. The novel was published by Andre Deutsch in 1979 and has 296 pages. Additional info: Green cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Overall, very good with a DJ preserved in a plastic sleeve.
