Bertie and May is a children’s book by Bertha Stemm Norton and Andre Norton, illustrated by Fermin Rocker, published by Hamish Hamilton in 1971. It is the first UK edition of the book, which was originally published in the US in 1969. It is a biographical story of the authors’ parents, Albert and May Stemm, who were anarchists and social reformers in London in the early 20th century. The book depicts their struggles and achievements, as well as their family life and their involvement in the Spanish Civil War.
