Billionaire Walter Richman has built himself his dream home – the Observatory, a mansion like no other mansion – at the foot of the world’s highest mountain in the cold Antarctic waters south of Tasmania.

Living a far humbler life is Rita Gausse, estranged daughter of the architect who designed the Observatory. Rita is surprised, upon her father’s death, to be invited to the Observatory to meet the famous Richman in person.
